Happy New Year my friends! I can't believe that 2019 will mark my 25th year working in the beauty biz! I began my career as a makeup artist when I was a 21 year old college student and I haven't looked back. I have been so blessed to be trained by some of the top makeup artists in the industry: Laura Mercier, Bobbi Brown and Trish McEvoy. I have applied makeup to thousands of faces of all ages and races...from beautiful brides on their wedding days to giving a cancer patient her eyebrows back after chemo and seeing her smile from ear to ear, I have loved every single moment.

Today I am sharing with you my best tips and advice for anyone who is new the world of makeup or coming back to it after a break for whatever reason. I hope this video makes you feel more knowledgeable, and helps you navigate the often confusing and overwhelming world of beauty.

Side note: I don't know what is going on with my audio. I had to re-record my intro and it sounds entirely different than the rest of the video. Get the Urban Decay Naked Heat Look for Less using all drugstore makeup!

Hi guys! Wow, there is SO Much hype surrounding the new Urban Decay Naked Heat palette!! It seems like every Youtuber I follow has done a video on it. I have been on the fence on whether or not I should get it. It LOOKS really pretty, but after watching several tutorials I feel like everyone is ending up doing the same one or two looks. It also seems like the majority of the shades are very dupable. What do you think? Will you be getting this palette?

In this video I address how Youtube and other social media can create this sense of urgency and "need" and I just want to say that yes, I realize watching Youtube and being on Instagram or Facebook is a CHOICE, and if you think you have a spending problem, it's probably best to stay away!!

I wanted to do this tutorial to show those of you who may be bummed out about not being able to purchase the new Heat palette that you can still get a similar look to what your favorite Youtubers are showing without breaking the bank, or perhaps using makeup you already own. I didn't include them in this look, but I believe Colurpop makes some great dupes for some of the metallic shades in this palette and they are only $6 each!

Is your makeup aging you? Today I conducted a little unscientific experiment and I am looking forward to hearing what you think. Most of you know I am a "glam girl"...I love my false lashes, lipgloss and sparkle. I will never give that up, but I do find it interesting when I see comments on my videos- and on other "glam" Youtubers channels- stating how much younger I look with less makeup. Over 40 EVERYDAY MAKEUP TUTORIAL with NO FALSE LASHES!

This my current "go to" look for daytime. You can change up the lip or add false lashes if you choose!

I know that even all of the great content and help youtube provides, many still struggle with doing makeup. As a freelance MUA I get asked quite often questions such as..."how much it too much makeup for the daytime?" "Do I have to wear winged liner like all of the "beauty gurus" do?" or "Do I have to use so many products?' I hope this tutorial clears up a few things for you! This is an all matte eye with a smoked out liner. I chose brown, but you can use black. You can also add false lashes, or a lipgloss.....this is simply a starting point for a basic, daytime makeup application.

I know this video isn't the best quality. I was having problems again with my Sony, so I used my Canon that does NOT have auto focus!! Grr!!!! It is so hard to film when you are never sure if you're in focus! I hope you still enjoyed it anyway!!
